I have learnt so much during 2014. At first the project seemed daunting; how would I be able to find sufficient subjects to keep going throughout the year? And yet, as the days, weeks and months unfolded, my eyes opened and I could see images where I'd never looked before. It turned out to be no struggle at all.
The year has also enabled me to find out which type of photography really appeals. I intend to concentrate on those areas in the forthcoming year and hone my skills to a level of which I can be proud. At the moment, I can see images emerging, however they are way off the level I would like to achieve.
I believe that taking photos involves so much more than simply clicking the shutter of my camera. I really enjoy the anticipation of many elements.................planning trips, locations, weather, unexpected finds etc. Then there are the actual mechanics of capturing images............camera settings, light, exposure and type of image to create etc. Lastly, there is the thrill of downloading images onto the computer and starting the process of editing to achieve a result which represents that illusion in my mind when originally capturing the image.
It is for me, above all however, an emotional experience. To be able to capture a vision in a way which translates into an image is a truly wonderful experience. I fully connect with what I am doing and in so doing, have learnt more about myself as well as the art of photography.
I intend to continue to upload photographs as well as write of my photographic experiences. However, I won't be extending my photo a day project. I enjoyed the experience although it meant time was limited for exploring other areas of photography. Now is the time to move forward with more selection.
I am exploring the possibility of using a website for photographers. For the moment however, I have created another page for 2015 where I will continue to upload photos as well as write my blog on a weekly basis.
