Lost
After having to say the final goodbye in January, to Nell, my Border Collie and constant companion over the last 14 years, my photo mojo disappeared.
She was such an integral part of my motivation for photography and without her, my interest in getting out and about to look for photographic subjects waned. I took photos when visiting places anyway, however they were more along the lines of holiday snaps and a record of events rather than efforts to improve my skills.
Slowly, I am finding a desire to once again search for interesting subjects and angles from which to capture images. I also need to consider whether to invest in a new camera. Last year, the sensor on my Canon EOS 70D gave up the ghost. I dug out my EOS 100D and although adequate for the level of photography I am involved in so far this year, the frustrations of working within its limits is beginning to annoy me! Maybe it's more proof that my mojo is returning. Once I have rediscovered the joy I have experienced over the years with my photography, I will feel justified in making such an investment again.
For now however, I will take each day as it comes and make a positive effort to use my camera (which I always have with me) without putting too much pressure on myself.
