1st-4th April
A dull day and a foggy walk alongside the river. Different photography conditions and different experiences compared to previous trips. There was a police diving exercise underway and I asked if I could take photographs. Permission was given and I took quite a few, however the rubbish which had accumulated where the diver was operating, didn't make for particularly inspiring images.

5th & 6th April
A freezing cold day, however the scenery was well worth braving the elements. Playing badminton also helped to get the blood circulating again for some!

April showers of hail and rain didn't dampen spirits when watching new born lambs in the fields. Spring has definitely sprung.

April 8th -10th
The rain was still about even though I had changed countries! It made for more spectacular scenic images though. I had last been at this location when it was wall to wall sunshine and the contrast was awesome.

I needed to find shapes from shadows and had intended to utilise sunshine and buildings. The weather had other ideas however and in the end I resorted to indoors and electric light!

Plenty of activity on the beach, some of which it was difficult to work out what exactly was going on!

A fun exercise from which I learnt a great deal. I was able to create my own action to convert a photo into an infrared image. One of my photography group posed the challenge, "Polish a turd"! It was left to each of us to come up with our own ideas and although I played around changing various aspects, it wasn't until I found the way to convert to infrared that I felt I'd made the image my own.

A lovely long walk around the mountain. On one side there were a few clouds and blue sky, on the other, fog and dark conditions. You just never know who you may come across when out walking though!

April 19th - 23rd
Messing about with perspectives and proportions of late. I know what I'm after, however it's not always possible to achieve given the terrain. At least I have more of an idea just how much conditions play their part, whatever composition I use.

Beautiful light as the sun began to set. The valleys filled with cloud inititally, although after the sun went down they dispersed.

A great day out meeting a local photo journalist, David Waterman, who has lived in the area for some 20 years. He has restored an old mill and converted it to his home and it was to this venue I went. Just wandering in the area with him and listening to his recall of photographic adventures was so entertaining. I really enjoyed looking at his photos; his style appeals a great deal. To add a cherry on the top of the cake for me, he was extremely complimentary about some of my images from the day.

I needed to go to the coast and after my purchases had been made, I carried on driving. I'd left home before sunrise and was treated to a spectacular cloud formation. I found new routes and was delighted when travelling along a track to see some bee eaters sitting on a wire. I was able to take some close up photos as they continued to sit. When they decided to fly off, I was ready too. Amazing to see them so close as well as their colouring. Normally they are way above and only identifiable by their distinct call.

The theme was fonts and fountains from my photography group today. I had no intention of leaving home and ready made fountains are a scarcity in these parts, I came up with my own idea which seemed to go down well!
